The Jesus Biographies Anno Domini

Jesus Biographies Anno Domini
The stories of seven lives shaped by the suffering and glory of Jesus.

The Jesus Biographies continues at Seven Mile Road this July and August… with a twist.

For the past 5 months we have been marveling at the ways in which the suffering and glory of Christ was already written in the biographies of the Older Covenant saints. The Father really was getting us ready for the Son in the way He shaped the stories of those who came before Him.

What is gloriously breathtaking is the idea that, even though Christ has come, The Jesus Biographies are still being written. The Gospel… the holy life, atoning death, and vindicating resurrection of Jesus… the suffering and the glory of the Christ… continues to shape the stories of the saints. This has been happening since His first appearing, and it will continue until His second.

Our aim in the Jesus Biographies: Anno Domini is to explore the ways in which the suffering and glory of Christ shaped the lives of seven of church history’s saints. From the Middle Easterner Polycarp in 155 AD to the African Augustine in the 5th Century to the American Jonathan Edwards in the 1700s, and before and after and in between, the Father has been retelling the story of the glory of the Son over and over again.

Our deep hope is that we are not only inspired and instructed by the biographies of these saints, but that we are brought to believe the Gospel allow Jesus’ biography to shape the one being written at Seven Mile Road.

Note on the preachers

One of our deep hopes at Seven Mile Road is to shape a generation of faithful preachers. One way in which we do that is by allowing our younger Pastors and men who are in our Pastor Track to develop their voice from our pulpit. (Oh, and Matt doesn’t mind the Summer break.) And so this Summer, six different Seven Mile Pastors and Pastor Track men will be preaching.

The Schedule

July 12 Jonathan Edwards and Jesus Justin Gottlieb
July 19 John Knox and Jesus Matthew Kruse
July 26 Hudson Taylor and Jesus Brent Boorsma
August 2 Augustine and Jesus Dan Ko
August 9 Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Jesus Jeremiah Morris
August 16 Polycarp, Perpetua and Jesus John Frederick
August 23 Francis and Jesus Matthew Moran
