As many of you know, a couple from Seven MIle Road is working really hard to adopt an adorable little boy from Guatamala. You can read about all of that here and here. I just wanted to give you a quick update on what has been going on with that lately.
1. Carrie and Romulo returned to Guatamala in late July for a scheduled court hearing. Unfortunately John found out that the hearing was postponed. He found this out while Carrie and Romulo were in flight. Carrie and Romulo landed in Guatamala safely, but there was now no hearing. Without a hearing there could be no new medical visa and Romulo could not leave the country. Because of this, Carrie has stayed in Guatamala caring for Romulo for the last few weeks. The hearing has been rescheduled for early September.
2. While in Guatamala, some neat stuff has happened. Carrie has been able to arrange for Romulo to get to spend some time with his birth family. Really neat to see that little guy playing with his brothers.
3. John is surviving, but barely. While there are some strange stories regarding what has been cooked in Carrie’s absence, John is still making it. I’m pretty sure he’s been playing “expiration-date roulette” on a regular basis.
Please be prayerful for Romulo, John and Carrie and all of those involved in this case. There are undoubtedly many obstacles to making this adoption happen, but God loves adoption and is faithful! May all hope for this little boy to grow up in John and Carrie’s home be bound up in his goodness!
