seven mile children
At Seven Mile Road, we are convinced that the greatest joy to be had is that of knowing and loving Jesus. Because of this, we want everyone to hear the gospel and come to faith in Christ. We strive to be missional in all that we do and since we have an ever-increasing group of children here, we work hard to contextualize the gospel for them. This doesn't mean that we are going to water down the gospel, only talking about nice and fun stuff. Instead we are working hard to present the truth of the gospel to the children on a weekly basis in hopes that they will come to realize their need for Jesus and, ultimately, come to know the redemption and joy his grace brings. We cannot make them believe, but we can tell them about Jesus, care for their souls, spend a bunch of time praying for them and anxiously await the moment that, by God's grace, they come to faith.
Now we hope that all of this is happening at home, but we also do this together at 9am on Sunday mornings. When we gather then, our younger children work through a lesson that tracks along with the church's current sermon series, so that they are hearing the same thing that their parents are hearing, just presented a little differently. The same text with the same aim. Then with our older children who are reading and writing, we work through a curriculum that focuses on reading, studying, memorizing and praying scripture, as we teach them to trust God and obey His Word. Then with all of our children together, we spend time in prayer and singing. All in the hope that these children may grow up loving and treasuring Christ above all else.
