What kind of people make up Seven Mile Road?

We are a diverse community of people who have found themselves living in the Boston area for one reason or another. Some of us are born and raised Bostonians. This would mean we drop lots of r's, own Bruins jerseys, drive crazy, and like high taxes. (Or at least vote for candidates who do.) Some of us are here for school, work, or because we heard that Augustana song and thought we'd move to Boston. However we got here, many of us end up staying because Boston a cool city with a rich culture. And all of us have found surprising grace extended to us in the Gospel, and found Seven Mile Road to be a place where our souls can soak it all in.

What if I'm not used to going to church?

No problem. Seven Mile Road wants to be a place for those who are finding their souls drawn to God and have never experienced the joy of being a part of Jesus' church. We want Seven Mile Road to be a place where you can ask, learn, apply and wrestle with who God is and what He has done for us. It's okay if you don't have it all figured out yet. We're all walking the road, together.

What will the worship service be like?

Seven Mile Road is a pretty simple place. We don't need to be flashy or put on big productions for people to meet God. We believe that Jesus and His Gospel is enough. On Sundays we follow a basic pattern of meeting together that is traced back to the early Church. We teach from the Bible. We repent, pray, meditate, sing, give, share the sacrament, and embrace one another. The goal through it all is to find fitting response to the grace that God has poured out on us.

What does the pastor talk about?

The 'sermons' at Seven Mile Road are always rooted in the text of Scripture, seeking to understand what God has said and done and how that impacts our lives as His people. We want the whole of our lives to get swept up in the redemptive realities of God, so we present the ageless truths and story of the Bible in a way that's hopefully easy to understand, even if you've never been to church. This doesn't mean watered down wussy preaching, but a contextualized presentation of the Gospel. Typically, we go through one book of the Bible in its entirety so we may fully understand God's truth in deep context, and sometimes we work through topics that are particularly relevant for our church.

What should I wear?

We don't stress about the externals, and so there is no 'dress code.' Although the following items are banned: Yankee jerseys, Garth Brooks tee-shirts, and anything formally worn on the View.

What about my kids?

We are huge on children because we believe that God is. 9am is dedicated to instructing our children in our faith. We've been blessed with a killer kids room that our children adore. Whatever your child's age, we're ready to welcome them into our community.

Can I invite my friends?

Please do. We seek to be a welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are seeking to belong to a community of believers.

How old is Seven Mile Road?

Seven Mile Road is in first grade. We had our first corporate worship service in 2001, muddled around for a few years, and have hit our stride some in the last 3.
